8 The GLOBE project involves 170 researchers from over 60 countries who collected data on 17,000 managers from 62 countries around the world. Hofstede’s cultural dimensions theory is a framework for cross-cultural communication, developed by Geert Hofstede. lt describes the effects of a society’s culture on the values of its members, and how these values relate to behavior, using a structure derived from factor analysis. Many people are now turning to the work done by Geert Hofstede between 1967 and 1973. Working for IBM at the time, the professor collected and analyzed data from more than 100,000 individuals in 50 countries to develop his Cultural Dimensions model.

It shows the effects of a societys culture on the values of its members, and how these values relate to behaviour, using a structure derived from factor analysis. Hofstede developed his original model as a result of using factor analysis to examine the results of a worldwide Geert Hofstede, assisted by others, came up with six basic issues that society needs to come to term with in order to organize itself. These are called dimensions of culture. Each of them has been expressed on a scale that runs roughly from 0 to 100.
